Proclaim Trust’s first office was in my bedroom. In the late 90s, I lived in a shared house where we all had our own room. Our second office was in Champness Hall in Rochdale. In 2006, we took out a lease and moved into a more spacious place.

A Lesson from an Athletic Coach

What does a coach look for most in an athlete? Some years ago, Shari Kuchenbecker and her team of research assistants from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles interviewed 658 coaches representing 43 sports. The athletes they coached ranged in age from 3 to 22. Across the board, Kuchenbecker says, coaches picked psychological factors over physical factors when asked what makes for a successful young athlete.

The Scars of Life

Some years ago on a hot summer day in south Florida a little lad decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realising that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore.

It was 1992. The rave scene was in full swing. I’d been with Tania my girlfriend for 3 years. Tania had high cheekbones, hazel colour eyes, and she was classy. She didn’t take drugs, and she didn’t know that I did because I’d become good at the art of deception.

A Lessom from my Time Dating Tina

Proclaim Trust’s first office was in a place called Champness Hall. This is where I first met Tina. She worked for a youth work organisation and her team was based in same office building. Tina is strong, spiritual and from the South. Her background was totally different than mine.
