Once an Addict - Classroom Resources
When doing media interviews Barry is often asked the question, ‘What is the answer to today’s escalating drug problem in the UK?’ His reply to this would be, ‘There is no ‘quick fix’ solution to such a massive problem’. However, one of the things that he strongly believes can help reduce the use of drugs in our society is through educating people about the dangers of drug use when they are young.
Of course we realise that young people are being taught in various formats about drugs and the dangers of drug use, and we don’t want to take anything away from that because a lot of this is vital information. However, we do think that the Once an Addict Classroom Resources can make a valid contribution to this because it brings real life insights into the drugs underworld through Barry’s first hand experiences, using the framework of Religious Studies, unlike any other material available.

"This informative and educational classroom resource on drugs engages with issues which can confront users. The principles and lessons learned from Barry Woodward's life journey are captivating and engaging. I commend this resource with confidence for use in GCSE and non-examination frameworks."
J.John - Philo Trust "During ten years service in Manchester Police, including plain clothes work in its Drug Unit, I came face to face with the grim reality of drug addiction, and its devastating consequences on individuals, families and communities. At one time Barry and I were on opposite sides of the Law but I’m thrilled to endorse this classroom resource based upon ‘Once an Addict’ – his exciting true story. Barry’s story inspirers me and I’m sure it will ‘grip’ young people, who need to know the facts about the choices available regarding drugs and the consequences which follow our choices." Rev. Anthony Delaney - Ivy Church, Manchester
